Often I see job postings that call for some sort of technologically savvy ‘guru’. These are a major turn-off, in my opinion. At work I am sometimes referred to as the ’social media guru’, and it makes me feel cheapened. Not sure what it is, but something about the term ‘guru’ is consistently associated with the people who bounce from trend-to-trend as consultant ‘experts’ or ‘gurus’. I hope to never be one of those people, and strive to make sure I am of much greater value to those around me.
